Donald R. Nicholas, PhD HSPP is Professor in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services. He completed his PhD degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, after completing degrees at Eastern Kentucky University (M.S. in Clinical Psychology) and Indiana University (B.S. in Psychology). His predoctoral internship was in health psychology at the West Virginia University Medical School, Morgantown, WV. While at Ball State he has served as the Director, Counseling Practicum Clinic and was involved in the establishment of the Institute for Wellness. His primary area of interest, within health psychology, has been psychosocial oncology. He has a number of publications in psychosocial oncology and has directed a training opportunity in health psychology at the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Cancer Center in Muncie since 1994. He has served on the PDQ Editorial Board of the National Cancer Institute since 2000 and, within APA, has been a founding and long time member of the Health Psychology Section within the Society of Counseling Psychology. He teaches the integrated doctoral practicum, psychopathology, psychopharmacology, behavioral medicine and master’s practicum. He is married to Pam Nicholas and has three children.
