We grant graduate degrees in two primary fields: educational psychology and school psychology. Which direction is right for you depends on the way in which you hope to make a difference.
Studies in educational psychology include a master’s degree that’s appropriate for working professionals in a variety of settings, including work with high-ability students, and is also a great stepping stone toward doctoral studies in education or psychology. The doctoral program in educational psychology is perfect for aspiring research scholars who want to make their mark by boosting understanding of teaching, learning, and development. It’s vital for those interested in exploring individual learning differences and how educational settings can adjust, and for students with an interest in educational accountability and program evaluation.
Those pursuing studies in school psychology focus on how and why specific individuals learn, in the hopes of helping them to learn more effectively and successfully. This work involves the study of development, memory, learning, and cognition in various educational settings, assisting teachers, parents, and the students themselves. In this field, we offer master’s and specialist in education (EdS) degrees, the latter of which involve more credit hours but can lead to Indiana licensure. Also appropriate for those seeking licensure as a school psychologist is our PhD program in school psychology.
Non-degree choices include the licensure and certification programs focusing on educating high-ability students. There are options for those with an Indiana teaching license as well as those without a license. For undergraduates seeking a background in educational psychology, we offer a minor in human development that can be combined with a variety of majors.
