The Department of Educational Studies offers several outstanding programs that will prepare you to become licensed to teach at the secondary or junior/middle school level and in all-grade education programs, such as physical education.
The department offers minors in educational technology, multicultural education (Non-teaching), and leadership studies.
Social Foundations of Education explores the place of formal schooling in North American history through social-science interdisciplinary perspectives.
Courses include topics on Social, Historical, and Philosophical foundations of education. An academic study of the complex relationships between schools and society through the disciplines of sociology, history, and philosophy of education. The goal is to develop disciplines of normative, interpretive, and critical perspectives on education.
