Ball State is well known for its commitments to experiential and immersive learning and to community service. Those commitments often go hand-in-hand—a great, real-world educational experience for our students is also valuable to the community.
Our partnership with the YMCA in operating the Apple Tree Child Development Center is a perfect example. The program, accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, exists for the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth of the area’s young children. But our involvement with the program is also a tremendous benefit to our department’s and our students’ understanding of the process of early childhood education.
