Bo Chang is an assistant professor of adult and community education at the Department of Educational Studies. She has a master’s in adult education from East China Normal University focusing on training and human resource development. She obtained her Ph.D. in adult education from the University of Georgia, focusing on adult learning from the sociological approach. Her areas of interest include: adult learning; learning and tools such as culture, media, language, discourse, and social networks; learning community; community-based adult education; knowledge construction; social constructionism; some postmodernism; qualitative research; and case study. Her dissertation is a case study of knowledge construction in a learning community.
Bo Chang has taught adult learners and facilitated training programs for adults in a variety of contexts. She has investigated study circles in Sweden, Highlander Education in America, and learning communities in China and published many articles in the areas of adult learning, training and adult education. She is the Ball State 2011-2012 Emerging Media New Faculty Fellow. She received the 2011 Early Career Scholar Award from the American Educational Research Association(AERA) Adult Literacy and Adult Education Special Interest Group.
