Ball State University's Department of Educational Leadership has once again been ranked by Leadership Excellence as one of the nation's 2012 top leadership development programs. The Teachers College program was ranked 20th in the education/universities/schools of management and business category. Leadership Excellence is the only dedicated magazine of leadership development that annually rates the best programs in the country.
For the past three years, the department was honored for its leadership practice of preparing engaged educational experts who are sensitive and responsive to the contextual bases of teaching, learning, and development. The magazine states, "Students who participate in this program acquire experience on a practical, theoretical, and clinical level. The program reinforces professional expertise through advanced coursework, projects, authentic experiences, and leadership. Participants also use their professional leadership skills to serve and bless the lives of all with whom they come in contact. There is definitely a culture of high leadership expectations in this department, and it shows."
The publication's annual Leadership 500 rankings recognize the nation's top leadership development programs in seven categories: large organizations, small/midsize organizations, universities, nonprofits, government/military, consultants/trainers/coaches, and consulting groups.
