Fascinated by radio, TV, and movies, 1991 Ball State graduate Jay Williams turned his intrigue into pursuit and chased his dream of working in the entertainment industry. It all began with radio. In high school, Jay Williams anchored his student radio station. From there, he went on to Ball State, where he became the first general manager of the student-run radio station, WCRD. He also spent time working at the local station WLBC, where he held various on-air jobs, including traffic reporter. He enjoyed a stint in the late '80s as “the first and last traffic reporter in the history of Muncie radio,” he recalls. “I still laugh about it to this day when I listen to L.A. traffic reports.”
Before completing his degree in radio and television sales management, Williams began a 16-year career at Walt Disney Studios. He started with an internship as a special effects host for the studios’ backstage tour and worked his way up senior vice president of creative content, a position he held his final two years with the company. Over the course of his Disney career, he developed and produced a variety of programs in alignment with movies, including Pearl Harbor and Monsters, Inc. Williams is currently the president of creative content at Craig Murray Productions (CMP) and a proud inductee of the Department of Telecommunication’s Hall of Fame Gallery of Professionals.
