Telecommunications Scholarships Application: Main application for all departmental scholarships. All scholarships are due by 5 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2016. Please bring your entries to the Telecommunications department located in the Ball Communications building, (BC) 201.
Letterman Telecommunications Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria: A) For full-time students who have earned at least 30 credit hours at the time of application and who are majors or minors in telecommunications. B) Grades are not a criteria or condition for eligibility or consideration. C) Applicants must have reasonable expectation of becoming a professional in the telecommunications industry. D) Each scholarship is to be awarded on the basis of a creative endeavor. This may be in the form of a written project, a research effort, an audio, video, film, interactive media or similar presentation so long as it can be clearly defined as creative in the area of telecommunications.
TCOM Faculty Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria: A) Junior or Senior TCOM student at time of application; B) Minimum 3.0 grade point average out of 4.0 scale; C) Written commitment indicating acceptance for an internship; and D) One award of $1,000.
Molly Dailey Telecommunications Internship Fund
Scholarship Criteria: Awards one to two scholarships between $1,000 and $3,000 each. A) Students majoring in telecommunications whose career paths lead them to internships in the large cities of the major markets. B) Preference will be given to citizens of the United States of America and the state of Indiana. C) Must be a full-time student. D) Grade point average and financial need will not be criteria for selection. E) Recipients will exemplify the high spirit and dedicated drive that characterized Molly Dailey and share her passion for a career in telecommunications. F) In the event the fund cannot be used for the purpose initially intended, the chair and the dean may revise its purpose, keeping in mind the donor’s original intent and matching it as closely as possible.
Morry E. Mannies Sportscasting Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria: A) Junior or senior student majoring in telecommunications; B) Student should have a declared interest in sportscasting, as will be affirmed in the application process; C) Consideration will be given to academic achievements; D) Preference will be given to an applicant with sportscasting experience.
Chad Muller Editorial Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria: A) senior pursuing a major within telecommunications with first preference being given to those pursing the multimedia production option; B) student who is likely to pursue a career in film/video editing; and C) student who is consistently involved in student, personal, and/or professional TCOM projects.
“Dr. Joe” TCOM Scholarship
A) Student majoring or minoring in telecommunications, preferably pursuing the sales option; B) Grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; C) Junior standing at the time of the application; and D) Student who has demonstrated leadership at Ball State; E) Fixed award amount of $1,000.
Jim and Linda Needham TCOM Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria: A) Junior or senior telecommunications student at the time of submission; B) Minimum grade point average 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; C) Demonstrated commitment to TCOM activities and personal excellence; and D) Fixed award amount of $1,000.
Swim Family Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria: A) students majoring in telecommunications. B) Minimum 3.0 grade point average in TCOM and overall; C) students receiving credit for an internship during the 2016-2017 school year.
Dave and Lucy Smith TCOM Internship for Minorities
Scholarship Criteria: A) Students majoring in TCOM and doing an internship, B) students with high potential in the telecommunications industry, regardless of GPA, C) demonstrated financial need D) preference will be given to African American students or minorities.
Bill Byrant Sports Production Scholarship
Scholarship Criteria: A) Students majoring or minoring in TCOM, declared in Digital Sports Production, B) Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, C) Junior standing (60+ credits) at the time of application.
