He was recently honored for 25 years of teaching at Anderson Young Ballet Academy and during his time teaching for AYBT he has had eight concert dance pieces adjudicated and chosen for performance by the AYBT Company at Midstates Dance Festivals in various cities around the Midwest. Other highlights include directing and choreographing the full length liturgical ballet Le Voyage accompanied in live concert with recording artist Sandi Patty during the 1999 AYBT season.
In both 1994 and 1999, Michael was awarded a Certificate of Merit for Choreography from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for his work on Ball State’s production of Company, which was chosen for performance at the American College Theatre Festival Regional Division and for 42nd Street which was part of the 1999 Ball State University Theatre season.
In 2002 he was the recipient of the Ball State University College of Fine Arts Dean’s Teaching Award for excellence in teaching and has trained many students who have gone on to perform in major dance companies, on Broadway and in National Tours.
