BiographyBeth Turcotte is an Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance Performance and received her MFA from Southern Methodist University.
Over the past thirty years, Beth has been instrumental in developing the musical theatre, acting and acting for the camera courses. Company, Cabaret, and Jesus Christ Superstar were three of the Ball State Productions that Beth directed or co-directed that were selected for regional performances at the American College Theatre Festival. This past January, THE CIRCUS IN WINTER, an original musical inspired by the novel by Cathy Day, was selected to participate in the regional American College Theatre Festival. This past April, CIRCUS was honored by The Kennedy Center with eleven awards including Outstanding New Work, Director of a New Work and Set Deign.
Internationally Beth has traveled and taught numerous times throughout China, Korea, and Japan. On campus, she was one of the directors and co-founders of the UniverCity Projects, Earth Day, and Europe Year.
In the community, Professor Turcotte received leave from 1999 to 2003 to spearhead efforts for the Cornerstone Center for the Arts. One of her passions has always been arts education, so with her efforts to raise thousands of dollars for scholarships, over five thousand children were able to study the arts. For these efforts, she received the VIVA Award and The Star Press Person of the Year for 1999.
