B.F.A. Dance

The BFA in Dance provides a preĀ-professional experience within a liberal arts program, offering advanced coursework in all dance disciplines – modern, ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, and world forms – in addition to rigorous practice and study in performance, choreography, and theory. Our dedicated faculty cultivates each dancer’s uniqueness with detailed attention to the core components of the program – technique, artistry, creativity and intellect – through a challenging and supportive community that deepens and enriches each dancer’s knowledge of the craft.

  • We offer an undergraduate-only program that allows students to perform each and every semester - beginning first term freshman year - in both faculty and student-choreographed productions.
  • Low student-to-faculty ratio and small class sizes allow for the personal development of each artist as an individual.
  • Students receive hands-on advising and mentoring from a faculty of working professionals, providing unique access to outstanding performance and intensive study opportunities.
  • Off-campus opportunities include festivals in New York, Chicago, and beyond. In recent years, students have performed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, DUMBO Dance Festival, and Midwest RAD Fest, among others.
  • National and international guest artists that work in a variety of disciplines and aesthetics who are committed to providing an enriching and multifaceted experience for the students. Recent guest artists include Sidra Bell/Sidra Bell Dance NY, Nan Giordano/Giordano Dance Chicago, Xan Burley + Alex Springer/The Median Movement.
