The Learning Center’s staff consists of a Director, Assistant Director, Tutoring Coordinator, an office supervisor, an office assistant, 12 graduate assistants, and more than 85 peer tutors and Supplemental Instruction (SI) leaders.

Point: The Learning Center was voted by students as the best of Ball State "Best On Campus Service" for 2016. The Best of Ball State is a Ball State Daily news tradition that started in 2007 to give students a say in their favorite options in the categories of On Campus Services.

Point: The Ball State University Learning Center received the 2010 National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA)/Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center Award for a four-year college.

The purpose of this award is to give national recognition to the work done by exceptional learning centers, to foster growth and development in the field of academic support services, and to extend gratitude to those who strive to contribute to the profession of learning center administration.

The coordinators of the Ball State Learning Center, Jacqueline Harris, Jennifer Haley, and Gary Ritz, were honored to accept recognition on behalf of the Learning Center’s tutoring and Supplemental Instruction programs as well as other programming and grant work associated with the Learning Center. Most importantly, the coordinators recognize the exceptional accomplishments of the tutors, Supplemental Instruction leaders, and other student staff. The coordinators also thank the Ball State faculty, staff, and administration for their continuous support.

The award was presented at the NCLCA national conference in October 2010.

 Point: The Ball State Learning Center was the first program in the nation to receive the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE) certification for its Tutoring Services Program in 2000. In March 2010, at the national conference, Ball State received two additional recognitions. The first acknowledgement was for being a “Certification Pioneer,” based on the Learning Center's initial certification. The second was for “Continued Certification for its Tutoring Services Program.” This was the result of work the LC coordinators did over the last year. They submitted documentation, evaluations, and self-assessments in support of the programs and services the Learning Center has in place. The Learning Center's  tutoring program is one of three programs in the country that has achieved recertification.

Point: In 2009, the Learning Center received certifications from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). The purpose of this certification is twofold: it provides individual recognition and positive reinforcement for tutors’ successful work from an international organization as they achieve level 1, 2, or 3 certification and it also sets an internationally accepted standard of skills and training for tutors.
