University Core Curriculum Frequently Asked Questions

Are tutors available for non-core curriculum classes as well as upper level classes?
Yes and no; if one of our tutors has taken a class, he or she may be able to tutor that class.

Can a tutor come with me to an open student laboratory to work with the resources that are provided by the department?
Yes; for some classes (MUSTH and ANAT), arrangements can be made to meet in the labs as long as they coincide with the tutor's work hours.

Can my friend from class come to my tutoring session with me?
Absolutely! We encourage group sessions within the Learning Center in hopes that they will continue outside of our facilities.

Does a tutor have access to the exams for my class?
No; the tutors are available to discuss material and to develop learning strategies.

Does the core curriculum area recommend going to supplemental instruction (SI) sessions or getting a tutor?
Both; different students have different needs, so we recommend trying both to find what works best for you.
