Writing Tutoring

The Writing Desk is available to assist students with any written assignment. The tutoring may be in the English courses but it extends to all coursework. Some examples are biology lab experiments, history critiques, and graduate papers. Tutors are also available to help students construct presentations and speeches. As students advance in their college classes, writing tutors can assist with preparation for the Writing Competency Exam and offer suggestions for writing a résumé.

Students can attend tutoring during any phase of the writing process. From brainstorming topics to reviewing final papers, tutors are available to respond to the students’ work:

•  Brainstorming and outlining
• Organization
• Grammar and mechanics
• Library research skills
• Speeches and presentations
• Citations
