Exam Withdrawal Policies

You may not switch exams once the registration period has closed; therefore, you should make every attempt to attend.

However, if you cannot attend the session for which you registered, you have some options:

  1.  Web Withdrawal will be available on SSBanner from 12:01PM on the day after Registration closes until 11:59PM on the published Web Withdrawal End date.  Look at the Exam Schedule to see find the end date of Web Withdrawal for your particular exam. If you do Web Withdrawal during the Web Withdrawal period, you will receive a "W" for the course which will not count as one of your 2 attempts.
  2. Once Web Withdrawal has closed, you will receive a "NC" which will count as one of your 2 attempts. Exceptions to this rule will be judged on a case-by-case basis (see below).
  3. If Web Withdrawal has closed and you have a legitimate emergency which will prevent you from sitting for your exam, you must email the Writing Proficiency Program at writingcomp@bsu.edu  at least 24 hours before the official begin time of your Exam to explain the reasons for your non-attendance. We will not accept phone calls; your request for withdrawal must be emailed.
We will also need to assess the reasons for your request for withdrawal before processing it, so you should include a detailed description of the reasons for your need to withdraw in your email.  You should also attach scans of any documents which will verify the reasons for your non-attendance.  For example, if you were in the hospital or being attended by a doctor, include a PDF of a doctor's note.  We will contact you to let you know the status of your request.
