Miami Resources

The Miami Indians Collection includes photographs of members of the Miami Tribe such as featured above. Also included in this collection are documents pertaining to legal proceedings of the Indian Claims Commission, including Miami enrollment lists from 1967. Researched lists of Miami tribes in Indiana, Miami Chiefs, and correspondences can also be found. A finding aid for this collection can be found at Miami Indian Collection Finding Aid.   • Anson, Bert - The Miami Indians

    A general look at Miami history, including photos of living spaces.

 

  • Winger, Otho - The Lost Sister Among the Miami's
    Call Number: Archives and General Collection E87 .S628
    This book documents the story of Francis Slocum, a young Quaker girl who was abducted by a Delaware tribe in 1778 from her home in Pennsylvania. Frances was not found by her family until some 60 years later, by which point she had been adopted by the Miami tribe and happily married to a Miami Chief as well as had four children.
