Scholarships and Awards
In 1982, the Friends of Bracken Library Research Grant Fund was established to make available funds for the purpose of assisting library faculty to pursue or report research. Other activities that utilize Friends funds include the Friends of Bracken Library Scholarship, established in 1990, which helps library employees complete their master of library science degrees, and funding for professional development workshops and conferences for library employees. In 1996, the group established a Library Student Recognition Award recognizing student assistants who have made significant achievements both academically and in their work at University Libraries. In 1998, the Friends Dean's Student Art Award was initiated to enhance both public and office space in the library.
