Research Instruction

Research instruction helps students learn to locate information, evalute it, and use it appropriately in research assignments.  Librarians work closely with faculty members to develop a presentation tailored to the course topics and assignments. 

Common topics of discussion in the presentations include

• Identifying and locating scholarly research
• Evaluating the appropriateness, accuracy, and bias of sources
• Tips and tricks for using library research tools, such as CardCat and our research databases

Faculty members can schedule a research instruction session using our online request form. You can also call the Instructional Services office at 765-285-8017 to schedule.

Please schedule your session at least two weeks in advance . This helps us accommodate demand for sessions and allows librarians sufficient preparation time.  Instruction sessions are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. The earlier in the semester you call, the better your chances of getting the date(s) you want.

We will need the following information about your class

• How many students will attend?
• Are there students with special needs we should be aware of?
• What is the assignment related to the instruction?
• What are some examples of topics that the students are planning to research?
