Reserves

When an item is placed in Reserves, it becomes available for an abbreviated circulation period. Reserves consist of:

• Course Reserves—Items placed on reserve by an instructor. Items may include high-demand library materials, an instructor’s personal copy of a book or article, or Electronic Course Reserves, digitized articles or book chapters, which can be found in CardCat, our online catalog.  Instructors can use the Course Reserves Request System to submit reserve requests to the Libraries.

• Three-Day Open Reserves—These are music scores housed in the Music Collection in the Lower Level of Bracken Library, which circulate for three  days.

• Seven-Day Permanent Reserve—This collection of library materials is available to anyone with a valid Ball State University identification or Resident/Affiliate Card. The items are available by request at the Main Circulation/Reserves Desk and circulate for seven days.

FINES:

Overdue, lost, or damaged materials are subject to the Library Fine and Cost Policy.

All materials kept behind the Main Circulation/Course Reserve service counter, all 3-day open reserve music, and all materials taken to departments for copying are subject to the fine schedule for reserve items and are billed at the hourly rate if overdue. There is no grace period.
