Do the Libraries have films, videos, and DVDs available to check out?
The
Educational Resources Collection
(Lower Level of Bracken Library) has videos, films and DVDs that can be checked out for personal viewing. Faculty, staff and students can check out these materials for three days. Others can check out these materials overnight.
The
DVD/VHS Collections
link provides a way to browse the titles we own by category. Within a category (such as comedy, fantasy, thriller) you can view titles either alphabetically (by title) or by year.
The
University Libraries' Media Finders
allow you to search for items in particular formats or genres. When looking for a specific film or television show, use
CardCat's Advanced Search
to limit your search to items of a particular format (such as DVDs).
After identifying needed materials, write down the call numbers and ask for them at the Educational Resources service desk.
Do the Libraries have a place to watch movies?
Booths and individual study carrels are available in Bracken Library for viewing films and videos. For more information, consult the Educational Resources Collection In-house Viewing page.
Can I borrow music from the Music Collection?
The majority of recordings in the Music Collection are available for a two week loan. Tapes, CDs and LPs can be borrowed by BSU undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff, BSU Honors College students and Indiana Academy students. You can listen to recordings that do not circulate on headphones in carrels located east of the music stacks.

What genealogical materials do the Libraries have?
Bracken Library has guidebooks on doing genealogical research, census information on microfilm, and some local records. To assist patrons in finding genealogical materials, the University Libraries has put together an online subject guide: Genealogical Research .
Can I leave my personal items at the Reference Desk?
Because the service desks are busy locations, and personnel step away from the desks as part of their duties, the Libraries cannot allow patron items to be stored there; we could not guarantee their safekeeping. Instead we offer lockers on the south west side of the first floor lobby of Bracken. They can be rented on a daily basis.
The vending machine took my money. How do I get a refund?
The Bursar’s Office in Lucina Hall (Room B31) can grant refunds for money lost in vending machines.
