RapidWeaver Software on University Libraries’ Mac Workstations Supports Students’ Digital Portfolio Development

One of the popular software applications used in the University Libraries by teacher education students is RapidWeaver, a powerful Web design software for Mac computers. The software allows students to easily create a professional looking website for digital teaching portfolios required as part of their teacher education curriculum.

The University Libraries provide students and faculty with access to 430 public workstations, of which 60 are iMacs and 370 are PCs. In addition, the Libraries provide more than 280 software titles, which are accessible through a key server. RapidWeaver is available on all iMacs.

Currently, education majors are using two versions of RapidWeaver. Version 5 software is used by freshman and version 4 by upper class students. The University Libraries provide access to both versions.

The University Libraries are open 122.5 hours weekly, including five days each week, Sunday through Thursday, until 3 a.m.
