You have an opportunity at Ball State unlike any other in the world. You can participate, lead, learn, and explore through immersive learning.
Immersive learning—unique to a Ball State education—provides you with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and develop critical job skills employers want in their best workers. You will earn academic credit and fulfill academic requirements with an immersive learning experience. Projects are worked into your curriculum and are not extracurricular.
We know the needs of the 21st century are not easily addressed in only a traditional teacher-centered classroom. Through immersive learning, we provide the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, an appreciation for an array of cultures, an opportunity to work with the latest technology, and an understanding of diverse and changing societies.
Immersive learning opportunities can provide you with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build your talent before pursuing your career. Immersive learning is not an internship. It is an opportunity for you to use your skills to create and lead projects that have long-lasting effects in your community.
Chief executive officers (CEOs) seek out recent college graduates who have experiences such as immersive learning. According to a Fortune 500 survey, CEOs look for employees who have participated in “supervised and evaluated community-based projects or internships where students apply their college learning in a real-world setting.” Sixty-nine percent of the respondents identified these projects as very effective in ensuring that graduates have the skills to succeed.
