Ball State students explore the world, change communities, and enhance their lives and resumes through immersive learning. From developing new interactive news and advertising to participating in a 10-week field study of architecture, urbanism, and planning in South Asian cities, these opportunities give our students hands-on experiences in their career of choice.

- Ball State students knew they were in for an interesting class based on the materials list: protective glasses, steel-toed boots, ear protection, hardhats, and leather gloves. Learn more.
- Somewhere in Indiana, a perky 10-year-old will choose to eat a juicy orange instead of a nutritionally vacant candy bar. That small act, which could ultimately make the difference between a healthy life and one of obesity and illness, is partly the result of Janet Kamiri deciding she’d have more impact teaching health nutrition than her other passion, oboe. - Inspired by Hoosier author Cathy Day's novel The Circus in Winter, students created an original musical, set to make its debut in 2011-12 academic year. Learn more.
- Through multiple immersive learning experiences at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, students have produced videos and created new signage, among other projects. Learn more.
- BorgWarner finally closed its Muncie, Indiana, plant in April 2009, eliminating the last 200 or so jobs in a million-square-foot factory that once upon a time employed close to 6,000, making parts for World War II jeeps, Chevrolet Corvettes, and Ford F-150 pickups.
