This program provides training in applied mathematics and physics. You’ll be prepared for careers in industry or in national laboratories. The major also provides excellent preparation for graduate work in applied mathematics, physics, or engineering.

You will take mathematics courses on probability, numerical analysis, statistics, and differential geometry. You’ll also take physics courses on mechanics, optics, acoustics, electronics, and magnetism.

If you would like to major in a mathematics-related area, you should take all the college preparatory mathematics courses that your high school offers. You should enter college with a strong understanding of high school algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus.
