Mathematics

The mathematics major gives you a broad overview of many areas of mathematics. You will gain the analytical and quantitative skills needed for a variety of careers in business, industry, and government. You will also be prepared for graduate or professional (law or business) school.

You will take core mathematics courses and can also choose courses in the areas of mathematics that interest you. Courses are offered in mathematics analysis, probability, statistics, finance, abstract algebra, number theory, differential geometry, and other advanced topics.

If you would like to major in statistics or another mathematics-related area, you should take all the college preparatory mathematics courses that your high school offers. You should enter college with a strong understanding of high school algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus.
