Distance Education Student

Students enrolled only in distance education classes through Online and Distance Education are considered for all federal and state aid programs. Distance education refers to students who pay fees at the off-campus rates. This includes, but is not limited to, Internet (IT), off-site classes, some study abroad programs, and allied health classes. The cost of attendance (budget) and some grants may require recalculation based on enrollment status.

Students can also receive financial aid when taking a combination of on-campus and distance education classes.

Financial aid refunds can be used to purchase textbooks and supplies. Refunds are not issued until the beginning of on-campus classes each semester. Students who wish to begin distance education coursework prior to that time or before their aid has been processed will have to purchase books on their own and reimburse themselves when the refund is issued.

Books cannot be charged to the student’s account with the Bursar. The bookstores are private entities and accept cash, credit or debit for purchases.

Although academic progress is checked once yearly (at the end of Spring semester), for financial aid purposes, students should complete their coursework within the term for which they are registered.
