Indiana Frank O' Bannon Grant

This grant is awarded to Indiana residents by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE) and is used to pay tuition and fees. The amount of the award is determined by CHE.

You may receive awards from CHE for 4 academic years, if you demonstrate financial need. Additionally, the awards must be used within 8 years after the date you first apply and become eligible for the award. You must reapply to CHE for funds each year by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than March 10. You must also respond to any information requests from CHE by May 15. Visit our How to Apply section for more information.

You must be working on your first undergraduate degree and carrying at least 12 hours each semester. State program guidelines require that you maintain full-time enrollment during the first four weeks of each semester. Less than full-time enrollment during the first four weeks will result in cancellation of the award.

Students who initially enroll in a CHE eligible institution for the academic year 2013-14 must maintain satisfactory academic progress and complete 24 credit hours their first year, 48 credit hours by the end of their second year and 72 credit hours by the end of their third year to receive the base award. If students are able to maintain satisfactory academic progress and complete 30 credit hours by the end of their first year, 60 credit hours by the end of their second year, and 90 credit hours by the end of their third year, they may receive an incentive in addition to the base award. Incoming freshman who qualify for the Frank O'Bannon Grant and have an academic/technical honors diploma are also eligible for an incentive. In order ro receive the incentive in future years, students must continue to qualify for the Frank O'Bannon Grant and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
