Refunds

Refunds from tuition, fees, housing and dining will be applied to federal and state aid programs before being released to the student.

Fees Refund Policy
If you completely withdraw from the university, you may be eligible for an institutional refund. Any refunds or adjustments that result when you withdraw from the university will first be used to repay any financial aid donor that paid charges for that academic period. If the refund is larger than the amount of the financial aid repaid to the donor and all financial obligations to the university have been paid, the balance of the refund will be returned to you. Student employment is not used in the calculation of refunds.

When you remain in the university but drop or add classes, an adjustment will be made in conformity with the fee schedule, provided that your change-of-course form is processed by the registrar within the official drop/add period of a semester or summer term.

Refunds made for officially approved withdrawals from the university are based on a percentage of the general fee payment. For purposes of calculating a refund, the date of your withdrawal from the university is the date you first notify the Ombudsperson's Office of the intent to withdraw.

In cases where credit hours taken via Independent Learning result in an increase of federal and state financial aid awarded to you, you will not be eligible for a refund regardless of the time of withdrawal.
