In accepting a financial aid award from Ball State, you acknowledge certain responsibilities.
First, make sure you know the following things:

what financial assistance is available, including all federal, state, and institutional aid programs and what policies or regulations govern these programs

the deadlines for submission of application for aid and the procedures to be followed

the cost of attendance at Ball State and the university's refund policy

how our office determines your financial need, including the determination and amount of the expected family contribution
- the source and amount of each type of financial aid offered to you
- the method by which aid is determined and disbursed or applied to your account
You are also responsible for:
- using My Education Gateway (MEG) in order to speak to university departments about their educational and financial records and (if the student wishes) grant permission for other individuals (such as parents) to also receive this information
- completing all application forms accurately and thoroughly
- knowing and complying with enrollment requirements related to financial aid eligibility. You must be enrolled at least half-time to receive aid consideration, but you should be aware that some programs require full-time enrollment. (See specific program descriptions for more information.)
- knowing and complying with priority application dates
- knowing and complying with the university's refund procedures
- reading and understanding all information sent to you and all forms you are asked to sign, keeping copies for your records
- accepting responsibility for all agreements you sign
- using funds awarded to you solely for educational expenses incurred while attending Ball State
- repaying all educational loans according to the repayment provisions agreed on at the time the loan was accepted and the promissory note signed
- returning in a timely manner all corrections, additional information, or documentation requested by our office or the agency to which you submitted your application
- reporting any change in your financial situation from what you reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- reporting any wages, loans, grants, or scholarships received from sources external to the university
- knowing and complying with the policies for good standing and satisfactory academic progress
