Of Ball State's total enrollment of 20,030 students, more than 17,000 (about 85 percent) are undergraduates studying at the bachelor’s and associate degree levels. More than 15,500 undergraduates take classes on campus. Of the on-campus undergraduate students, 93 percent are enrolled full-time, and nearly a fourth of them are first-time freshmen.
Students come from 48 states, two territories, 80 countries, and every Indiana county. Indiana residents make up more than 92 percent of our undergraduate enrollment, and ethnic minorities comprise 10 percent. Nearly 52 percent of undergraduates are women, and 48 percent are men. Ball State has more than 400 international students, and nearly 800 students have transferred from other colleges and universities.
Ball State’s average class size is 31 students, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 17 to 1.
