In these plans, each breakfast, lunch, and dinner has an assigned dollar amount called a meal card equivalency, and you may buy items that together total less than or equal to these amounts. Any unused dollar value at a meal is lost; it does not roll over to the next meal period. Meal equivalencies for the 2009-10 academic year are as follows:
- breakfast, $4.00
- lunch, $7.20
- dinner, $7.55
If your total exceeds the equivalency, you can use cash, Visa/MasterCard, Cardinal Cash, or Dining Plus to cover the difference. You can purchase
additional Dining Plus amounts to supplement your plan at a discount.

hours meals are offered to decide which plan is right for you. The weekly meal plans begin with the breakfast meal period on Sunday and extend to the dinner meal period on the following Saturday. These plans are not valid during university vacation periods.
Cancellations of all commuter meal plans and meals-only contracts must be made in person at the
Ball State Dining office. Commuter meal plans cannot be canceled after purchase unless the student withdraws from the university.
