If you live on campus, you’re required to have a meal plan, which is covered by
your housing and dining fees. To fit your lifestyle and eating habits, we have several dining options from which to choose. Our plans fit students who like three meals a day to students who might eat lunch and dinner on weekdays but might want an occasional breakfast or after dinner snack.
Our four Value Plans are based on the number of meals you eat each week. To allow further flexibility, each of the plans comes with an amount of Dining Plus, which is a debit-style account of extra money in addition to your meal plan. Dining Plus is great because if the cost of your food goes over the meal allowance (see below) by a few dollars or cents, Dining Plus can take care of the extra. (You may also pay the extra amount with cash, Visa/MasterCard, or Cardinal Cash.)
Regardless of the plan you choose, the cost is the same. Here’s a breakdown of our plans:
| Value Plan |
Prepaid Meals |
Dining Plus |
|
21 Meal Plan |
3 meals a day, 21 per week |
$50 per semester |
|
Any 18 Plus Plan |
pick any 18 meals per week |
$75 per semester |
|
Any 14 Plus Plan |
pick any 14 meals per week |
$100 per semester |
|
Any 10 Plus Plan |
pick any 10 meals per week |
$200 per semester |
Note: If you sign up for the
Premium Plan, a two-year housing and dining contract, you get another $50 per semester added to your Dining Plus account plus other perks and financial benefits.
In all value plans, each breakfast, lunch, and dinner has an assigned time frame called a
meal time period (whether you choose to have salad or pancakes at that meal) as well as an assigned dollar allowance called a
meal card equivalency. At a meal, you may purchase items that together total less than or equal to the meal equivalency. Any unused dollar value at a meal is lost; it does not roll over to future meals. You may only use one meal during any given meal time period.
However, you may use Dining Plus at any dining location, at any time, and as often as you like, regardless of the meal time period. Any Dining Plus amount remaining at the end of the fall semester will transfer to the spring semester, but unused Dining Plus expires at the end of spring semester. If you spend all your Dining Plus dollars, you can get more at a discount though a Personal Dining Plus option.
If you want even more flexibility and are willing to pay significantly more, check out the Ultimate Choice plan.
