Greek Alternative Spring Break

Many students use their spring break to travel south to the sandy beaches of Florida or west to the snowy mountains of Colorado. However, every year a few Ball State Greeks choose to spend their spring break in a different way.

The Greek Alternative Spring Break (GASB) began in 2008. Students who participate in GASB give up their spring break to take a five-day journey to nearby locations assisting communities in need. During GASB, students work to make a difference by interacting with families in need, completing manual labor or lending a hand to non-profit agencies. Participants also meet other Greeks while exploring their values.

In the past, Greeks have assisted a nonprofit agency that provides recreational and therapeutic horseback riding to people who are physically or mentally challenged, helped clean up a national forest after a natural disaster, and worked with underprivileged children in an urban setting.
