The Criminal Justice Living-Learning Community is open to students majoring in sociology, psychology, political science, and criminal justice/criminology.
Opportunities:
- Engage in activities that promote academic achievement like tutoring and study nights
- Participate in community events to learn about the different careers associated with the field of criminal justice and criminology, as well as pyschology, political science, sociology, and social work
- Interact with faculty outside the classroom through field trips, panels, and demonstrations
- Develop leadership and interpersonal skills through involvement in student organizations and activities (both within and outside of the living-learning community)
- Network with faculty, upper-level students, advisors, alumni, and professionals in the criminal justice world
Partners: To accomplish these goals, the Criminal Justice Living-Learning Community works very closey with the Ball State Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. In addition, the community partners with other campus departments like the Career Center and Academic Advising.

- CJC 101 - Introduction to the American Criminal Justice System, 3 credit hours
- CJC 102 - Introduction to Criminology, 3 credit hours
- ENG 103 - English Composition 1, 3 credit hours
- POLS 130 - American National Government, 3 credit hours
- PSYCH 100 - General Psychology, 3 credit hours
- SOC 100 - Principles of Sociology, 3 credit hours
Programming: Events that students might participate in include K-9 handler demonstrations, speakers from the court, probation, and law enforcement areas, and community visits to juvenile detention centers, police departments, or the county morgue.
Location: This living-learning community is in Mysch/Hurst halls within LaFollette Complex beginning in Fall 2012 due to the renovation of Johnson A Complex.
