Become a Mentor

If you’ve ever had a mentor, you know how valuable that relationship can be. Mentors give advice, encouragement, and a push in a positive direction.

If you want to help new students with their transition into the Ball State community, apply to be an Excel Mentor. Each mentor is assigned to a student or group (4-6) of first year students who apply to the EXCEL Mentor Program during summer orientation.

We count on our mentors to help new students transition from high school to college by offering resources and guidance. Mentors are trained and provided the information skills needed to be an effective resource to the mentees. We make every effort to match mentors and mentees who have the same or similar academic major.

Interested applicants may download the application or pick-up one from the Multicultural Center Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Completed applications for the 2014 program are due on Friday, February 28.
