Multicultural Program of The Year
This award is presented to a student, group of students, or student organizations for implementing a multicultural program that stood above the rest.
Freshman Impact Award
This award is presented to a current freshman student of color or a freshman international student who has been actively involved at Ball State University and who, as a rising leader is making a positive impact at Ball State University.
Dr. Brenda J. Greene Distinguished Leadership Award
This award recognizes students of color or international students who have exhibited consistent growth and development as a leader through active involvement in Ball State University student organizations or the Muncie community.
Harry Watkins Outstanding Achievement Award
In 1933, Harry Watkins became the first African-American male to graduate from Ball State University. This award is presented annually to a student who consistently strives for, and attains, excellence in and out of the classroom, despite the presence of significant obstacles (educational, personal, financial, physical, etc.).
Mary Etta Taylor-Rose Award for Distinguished Service
This award is presented to a student of color or an international student who has demonstrated dedication to service for Ball State University or the Muncie community. The student must have a consistent history of service and have made a positive contribution within the community.
Olive Branch Award
This award is presented to a student who promotes diversity and cross-cultural sensitivity among all peoples; who strives to transcend all cultural and racial boundaries and; who best demonstrates tolerance and acceptance of diversity as expressed by the mission of the Multicultural Center to support and advance the University's commitment to cultural diversity
Outstanding Supporter of the Year
This award is given to a member of the Ball State University community who is not an executive board member of a multicultural student organization, but has made extraordinary efforts to support multicultural student organizations and promote diversity on campus. This award may be given to a student or a professional staff member.
Dr. Robert O. Foster Faculty/Professional Staff Award
This award recognizes a full-time faculty or professional staff member who exemplifies the spirit of Dr. Foster’s many years of dedication and service to Ball State students. The nominee will have supported the mission of the Multicultural Center with their time, knowledge, and support over the last three years. The mission of the Multicultural Center is to support and advance the University's commitment to cultural diversity.
Hurley Goodall Distinguished Faculty/Staff Award
Hurley Goodall is a native of Muncie and a former civil rights activist. He dedicated many years of service to the Muncie community and to Ball State University. This award is given to recognize a full-time faculty/professional staff member who, over the past year, has made extraordinary efforts to assist students of color in their personal and educational growth.
Building Bridges Award
This award recognizes residence hall councils that have exhibited true initiative and direction in promoting the areas of diversity and multiculturalism. This respective council has, not only promoted diversity and multiculturalism, but has held events and actively pushed the concept of culture and equality. This council has also produced leaders on campus who promote diversity and multiculturalism.
