What is Spectrum?
Looking for an organization that provides education, social activities, fun, and laughter? You don't want to miss out on Ball State's gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight ally (GLBTSA) organization! Spectrum is advised through the Office of Student Life, the clearing house for all recognized student organizations, and dates back to 1974. Spectrum is an organization run by students for students. Our motto—Just because you're here doesn't mean you're Queer—shows that you do not have to identify as GLBT to become a member. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings and events!
Spectrum exists to provide an anonymous, safe, and friendly place for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and their allies to socialize and obtain information. This organization provides social support to create a comfortable, confidential, and accepting atmosphere for its members. Confidential meetings are held weekly during fall and spring semesters. Anyone and everyone, regardless of sexual or gender orientation, is welcome to attend. Due to the nature of this organization, everyone is asked to respect the privacy of others. Meetings are both fun and educational.
The mission of Spectrum is to educate the Ball State and Muncie communities on lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgendered issues, cultures and history through various programming efforts. Spectrum's goal is to provide an anonymous, healthy and safe place for Ball State University students and surrounding communities who are discovering their sexual orientation to help find an understanding network of support. All programs and activities sponsored by Spectrum are free to Ball State students. Consider attending one of Spectrum's great events, including:
