Phi Alpha Theta, Mu Beta Chapter Phi Alpha Theta is an international honor society in history. The society promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and thought among historians. Students eligible to join the society must meet the following criteria: completion of at least 12 semester hours of history and/or social science education with a minimum grade average of "B+" or better and a minimum grade average of "B" or better in the classes outside the History Department. The local Mu Beta Chapter provides service to the history department, sponsors the annual Phi Alpha Theta distinguished lecture, and co-sponsors the Student History Conference.
