The Entrepreneurship Center

Being your own boss might seem like a dream, but at Ball State's Entrepreneurship Center, it is a reality. Our program is a terrific fit for students who want to tackle tough problems, work from the bottom up, and start businesses that creatively solve the challenges of life.

Our center has been a leader in entrepreneurial education from our beginning in 1983, and the national rankings prove it. Since 2000, the undergraduate entrepreneurship program has been ranked in the Top 15 America’s Best College for Undergraduate Entrepreneurship by U.S. News & World Report.

Mission

Our mission is to deliver the best educational experience in entrepreneurship in the nation through, teaching, research, and service activities centered on the following:

  • the processes of design and creative problem solving
  • the incorporation of deliberate practice, coaching, and mentorship for each student
  • the launch of new ventures
  • the management of firm growth

Why is our program such a success? Our faculty teach you step-by-step how to creatively solve real-world problems, apply a business model to your solution, and then assess the feasibility of your idea.

We know how important the application of theory is to the success of our graduates. That is why we provide you with a supportive environment and multiple opportunities to give you practical experience and the confidence you need. Our innovative teaching philosophy embraces the change in the economy to help entrepreneurs thrive.

Vision

The Ball State entrepreneurship program is the national leader in bridging technology into business education. We accomplish this through weaving the principles of design, innovation, and entrepreneurship throughout the program. This vision is a new type of education for today's world. Successful outcomes of this approach are evidenced through winning business plan competitions, starting new businesses, and assisting existing businesses to grow and remain relevant to today's global marketplace.

Our bachelor's degree in entrepreneurial management will provide you the chance to use your creativity and determination to solve real-world problems for a profit. For those wishing to further their degree more, we also offer a minor in entrepreneurship with tracks available for business and non-business majors. If you have already earned your bachelor's degree, we also offer a master of business administration (MBA) with a concentration in entrepreneurship.
