Michael P. Smith

Michael P. Smith joined the foundation board in 2007

Michael P. Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ball State in 1973 and his master of management degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in 1998. He is the executive director of the Media Management Center, which is associated with Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and Medill School of Journalism. He has been a journalist for 23 years and in 1982 won a Pulitzer Prize for local reporting while writing for Fort Wayne’s News-Sentinel.

He serves on the board of directors for the Center for Religion and New Media and the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors. He is a member of Ball State’s National Philanthropy Council, Journalism New Editorial Sequence Advisory Board, Fellows Society, and CVC. Smith lives in Chicago.
