The Dean’s Fund For Excellence within each college is used by the dean to provide resources to support what the college needs most. In the
Honors College, support is used for faculty and course development, costs associated with special courses, activities sponsored and organized by the Student Honors Council, expenses associated with the
Freshman Peer Mentoring program, and subsidies to reduce the total cost of field studies.
The creation of these opportunities is cost- and labor-intensive in ways that lie outside ordinary college budgets.
