Taking up residence in the renovated Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball home,
Ball State’s Honors College is fusing past, present, and future in one amazing facility. The college provides a place, a program, and the resources that stimulate motivated and high-ability students to pursue their interests.
To achieve this bold objective, we must create a culture and environment where talented students can thrive.
Moving Honors College from the lower level of Carmichael Hall at the north edge of campus to the Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball home in spring 2009 will accentuate academic life. Its new visible location will provide a more prominent physical presence and increase awareness of the college and its importance to the university and community.
A $1 million challenge grant from Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball Foundation will be available for the renovations, providing $300,000 is raised.
Your gift will help the Honors College to grow and allow adequate space for faculty and student interaction.
The $1.3 million renovations are under way. Updates are focused on transforming the home and grounds into an inviting learning and administrative center while preserving its distinctive presence:
- two fully technology-equipped classrooms and a third traditional room
- 11 administrative offices for two deans, two assistants, three advisors, and the director of national and international scholarships, among others
- full kitchen, basement for storage
- private gathering area for students which will be flexible for activities
