Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation

Recognizing our long-standing tradition of excellence in training educators, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation selected Ball State as one of the first sites for an eventual national fellowship program for high school science and math teachers.

Funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc., the program will initially prepare 80 new Indiana math and science teachers each year, with plans to eventually train 400 new teachers annually. The goals of the program include attracting and retaining the very best talent to teaching and getting strong teachers into high-need schools.

The selection of Ball State as one of the inaugural sites for the program speaks to the national recognition the university has garnered for its excellence and innovation in teacher education.

As David Haselkorn, senior fellow at Woodrow Wilson, explains, the stakes of the program are high. "This is a new strategy to ensure excellence in teaching, the profession that shapes America's future."
