Hudson Akin has more than 30 years in university and health care fundraising as well as trade association management.

He has served as the chief development officer at Louisiana Tech University, Ball State University, Children's Medical Center Dallas and now is back at Ball State as Vice President for University Advancement. During his leadership at Louisiana Tech and at Ball State, his work was recognized by CASE as each university received the Circle of Excellence Award for Outstanding Fundraising Improvement. Both universities also set campaign fundraising records under his leadership.

As Vice President for University Advancement at the University of South Carolina, he led the organization of the new Division of University Advancement in 2003. This effort allowed for a more coordinated effort in advancing the institution and set the stage for the next comprehensive campaign at the university.

While at Children's Medical Center Dallas, Hudson was successful in creating a development team that surpassed fundraising targets while engaging the hospital staff and volunteers as part of the culture of philanthropy.

From 1980 until 1990, Hudson was Chief Operating Officer of the Louisiana Bankers Association. This experience afforded him the opportunity to engage with the bankers and directors of banks across Louisiana and to assist in the opportunity work with the Louisiana Legislature in promoting legislation to advance free enterprise through banks. Additionally, his responsibilities included planning and organizing the annual convention along with 40-50 educational presentations each year.
