Flower/Memorial/Social Fund

Responsibility for Sending Remembrances

  • The chairperson of the School Social Committee or his/her delegate will be responsible for ordering flowers and remembrances in the event of an illness or death.
  • During breaks in school attendance the financial coordinator will assume this responsibility.
  • All faculty and staff members should take the responsibility to inform the chairperson when a remembrance should be sent.

Faculty and Staff Illnesses

  • Any illness or injury to an active Burris Lab School faculty or staff member that requires hospitalization will result in flowers being sent. The cost will be kept between $20.00 and $25.00, but in cases of out-of-town orders, costs will vary and will usually be higher.
  • Any illness or injury to an active Burris Lab faculty or staff member that requires at home recuperation of ten days or longer will result in a get well card being sent. The card will be circulated for signatures when appropriate.
  • Faculty and staff members of our extended family (i.e. S.I.S.) will be sent get well cards.
  • Faculty and staff members should feel free to collect moneys in a special donation to remember retired faculty and staff personnel.

Funeral Remembrances

  • In the event of the death of an immediate family member (spouse, parent, child, grandchild, or sibling) a donation of $30.00 will be made to the chosen charity of the bereaved faculty or staff member.
  • In the event of the death of a family member other than immediate family, a remembrance card will be sent.
  • A card will be sent in the event of the death of a retired faculty or staff member. Faculty and staff members should feel free to take up a special donation for another remembrance that they feel is appropriate.

Donation to the Flower Fund

  • Faculty and staff should feel free to donate whatever they feel is appropriate. The committee suggests at least $10.00 per year per faculty and staff member.
  • Faculty and staff members will be asked to donate extra money to the flower fund if the balance falls below $30.00.
  • Remembrances will be sent regardless of whether a faculty or staff member chooses to donate to the fund.

Please note that this fund is not in any way connected to the moneys used for social gatherings (carry-ins, baby, or wedding celebrations). Those moneys are collected per event as needed.
