Freely adapted from the play Acting Shakespeare; originally compiled and written by
Ian McKellen for his 1987 tour of the USA. Originally produced by American Players Theater.
With the permission of Sir Ian McKellen, James DeVita adapted his one-man show, "Acting Shakespeare," an amalgam of personal reminiscences, theatrical lore and selections from Shakespeare. The original concept for the adaptation was to recreate McKellen's show, but what followed was a complete reimagining, two years of research and revisions, and eleven more drafts. DeVita is an accomplished actor in the American Theater for more than 25 years. In addition to his many accomplishments in the theater, DeVita is also an award-winning author and playwright.
