Volunteering
Volunteers are essential at the David Owsley Museum of Art, especially for tours, special events, and outreach.
University students and community members staff our volunteer docent corps, serving as museum teachers for visiting groups.
Docents/Tour Guides
The docent program allows a small number of Ball State students and community members to volunteer and lead tours of the museum for groups from the community and the university. These museum teachers and students undergo extensive training, meeting once a week with the Curator of Education to learn about the collection and effective methods of conducting an interactive tour.
Meetings for those interested in becoming a docent or volunteer are typically on the first Thursday of the semester at 3:30 p.m.
Please email the museum if you would like to attend or be put on the mailing list. Prospective docents, who are students, must have a G.P.A. of at least a 3.0.
How Can I Become a Volunteer?
Please complete and submit an application to become a volunteer. The application will open in a separate window as an online form. Once you have submitted the form, a staff member will follow up as soon as possible.
