Ball State University celebrated the Golden Anniversary for the Class of 1962 on June 14-15, 2012. Activities for more than ninety alumni and friends officially began on Thursday morning, June 14, with the luncheon and "Pass the Cardinal" sharing of memories, fun stories, and news. Jim Lowe from Facilities Planning & Management presented a brief PowerPoint about the Ball State geothermal project and led a tour of the geothermal building and control room. From there, alumni and guests had the opportunity to take a bus tour of campus or tour the School of Music. A reception and dinner were held on Thursday evening and Bill Jenkins, chair, Department of Theatre and Dance, made special remarks after the meal. Theatre and Dance students Karaline Feller, Nancy Hale, and Katherine Jones performed, with piano accompanyment provided by Alex Kocoshis.
Friday morning activities began with tours of Kinghorn Residence Hall and the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. After lunch, Tom Kinghorn, vice president, emeritus, presented his popular PowerPoint "Ball State Campus: Then and Now." Afterwards, alumni and friends boarded shuttles for a Carillon demonstration by Kirby Koriath, professor, emeritus, at Shafer Bell Tower. Alumni then had a choice of a bus tour of campus or a tour of the Museum of Art. At the evening's Golden Anniversary Reception, a class picture was taken. President Jo Ann M. Gora made remarks and answered questions after dinner. She then inducted members of the Class of 1962 into the Half Century Club. Induction photos with the alumnus and President Gora will be mailed to dinner participants.
