Adopt-A-Highway Outing and Board of Directors Meeting
Saturday, May 5, 2012
Members and Guests Present: Jason Arnold, Don & DJ Kitson, Debbie Linegar, Holly and Sarah Mahnensmith, and Charlie Tooley.
The Chapter met at Preble Gardens following the Adopt-A-Highway trash pick-up.
The board has a new president, Charlie Tooley, and new member, Melissa (Wood) Heller. She is a flight nurse/paramedic for Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. There was dialogue on how to get board members involved and to attend future events.
The board discussed the cancellation of the Family Bowling Outing and if it should continue in the future. There was agreement that it is a great outing and will plan for 2013. Debbie Linegar brought a list of alumni living in Adams and Wells counties and there are 1,031, however, we only know email addresses for 335. Linegar stated how important it is to obtain those unknown, since most invitations/announcements, etc. will be done electronically in the future to save on printing and postage costs. Board members are to forward email addresses to Linegar to update records.
Assignments were made for the Bluffton Street Fair Parade on Tuesday, September 18. Mahnensmith will complete the parade entry, Tooley will provide his red truck, and Jason will contact Jeff Lehman to see of his availability as Charlie Cardinal. Linegar mentioned that it might be good for each board member to contact three or more alumni living in the area to participate in the parade. Linegar will provide contact information closer to the date.
Since the chapter no longer plans a golf and dinner outing, Linegar provided information for those that might want to attend the Kokomo or Northeastern golf outings, as well as the Tin Caps Picnic and Baseball Outing. All Alumni Association events are online on the web site.
The Fall Adopt-A-Highway trash pick-up has been set for Wednesday, October 3. Participants will meet at 5:45 pm and the pick-up will begin at 6:00 pm. Dinner will follow at 7:00 pm at Preble Gardens.
The next Board of Directors meeting will be Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Billy Ann’s Restaurant, 113 North Main Street, Bluffton.
