Members Present: Samantha Adamczewski, Kristy Ambrosen, Scott Franko, Gail Jaskowiak, Michelle Johnson, Carol Kosisko, Steve Schafer, Jane Simons, Wes Steffen, Kim Stout, Larry Struble, and Vince Von Der Vellen.  

Introduction of Carol Kosisko – Carol Kosisko, Director of Administration for the Office of Alumni Programs, was introduced as the new chapter liaison.  She has started the transition and will take on regional engagement programs.  She will be the point of contact with the office beginning July 1.  Her email address is ckosisko@bsu.edu.  

Review of Casino Night – Forty eight alumni and friends attended Casino Night at the Elkhart Elks.  Stephanie Markley and Amy Richardson co-chaired the event and Bob Woods provided entertainment as the auctioneer.  The cost was $10 (included appetizers and a drink ticket). The board discussed the price and thought it was fair for future years.  Several board members would like to ensure every attendee leaves with a door prize, no matter how big or small.  Steffen emphasized that it is up to the board to make the effort to get people to attend.  

Elkhart Fair Outing – Kristy Ambrosen has made arrangements for our Saturday, July 20 4-H Fair outing with special guest Charlie Cardinal and an evening concert with Creedence Clearwater Revisited.  She is currently looking for a volunteer to be Charlie Cardinal.  If the board has any suggestions, please send them her way.  He will be roaming the fairgrounds from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.  

Summer Golf & Dinner Outing – Kim Stout and Vince Von Der Vellen have confirmed arrangements for the Monday, August 5 Golf and Dinner Outing at Christiana Creek Country Club.  The cost of the outing is $85, which includes a deli buffet lunch and dinner (includes both beef and chicken).  Dinner only will cost $25.  Bill Scholl, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, will be providing remarks at the program portion of the dinner.   

Wine & Beer Tasting – Samantha Adamczewski and Scott Franko will chair the annual Wine & Beer Tasting.  This year it will take place at the Old Bag Factory in Goshen.  The price will be $20 per person and it will take place on Friday, October 25 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m.  Specific menus and details are being discussed.  

Shopping Trip – The Bus Shopping Trip to Woodfield Mall is Saturday, November 9.  Jenn Crist and Gail Jaskowiak will chair the event.  There will be one 57-passenger bus and seats fill up quickly.  The Alumni Programs Office will get the online registration page finalized once the contract is signed from the bus company.  If any board member is interested in attending, please let Jenn or Gail know as soon as possible.  The price will remain the same at $30.  

Alumni Council & Alumni Association Reports – The next Alumni Council meeting will take place on Saturday, June 8.  The Legacy Scholarships will be announced at the next council meeting.  The Alumni Association has implemented changing their fiscal year from a January 1 through December 31 schedule to July 1 through June 30, to align with the university.  The office staff is currently being realigned and a transition is already in place.  The Cardinal Commitment Campaign has been launched and is gaining momentum.  Please mark your calendars for Homecoming on Saturday, October 12 when the Cardinals take on Kent State at Scheumann Stadium.  

Scholarship Committee – Wes Steffen has agreed to chair a scholarship committee, which will include Von Der Vellen, Stout, Franko and Larry Struble.  The group will come up with ideas/events to generate funds for scholarships to local students in the Michiana area who plan to attend Ball State.   

Next Meeting – The next meeting take place on Friday, October 25, at 6:00 p.m., before the Wine & Beer Tasting, at the Old Bag Factory in Goshen.
